Calculations run in your browser. Your measurements are sent to us only if you create a share link. If analytics is allowed, we record only coarse ranges (for example 100–200 ft²), never exact inputs. This page explains the rest.

What you enter into a calculator
The numbers you type stay in your browser. The calculator works them out on your device. Unless you create a share link (see below), we do not receive your dimensions, your prices or your results, and the calculators work without an account.
If you use the “copy link” feature, the link contains your measurements so that whoever opens it sees the same estimate. It does not include prices. That link is created on your device and is only as private as wherever you paste it.
Share links
If you press “Create a short share link”, your browser sends the measurements and settings of that estimate to our server, and we store them under a random, unguessable link. Prices, fees and results are not sent or stored, and we do not store your name, email address or IP address with the link. Anyone who has the link can view those measurements, so share it only with people you want to see them. Search engines are told not to index these pages.
A link stops working after 180 days, or sooner if we turn it off, and is deleted from our server a month after that. To stop automated abuse, creating a link may run a Cloudflare Turnstile check; Cloudflare’s script is loaded only when you press the button, and Cloudflare handles that check under its own privacy policy. Counts of how often a link was opened are kept without identifying who opened it. To have a link turned off, email us the link.
Projects you save
If you save an estimate to your project list, it is stored in your browser’s local storage on your device, at your request. We do not receive it. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so use the export option if you want to keep a copy. This storage is for your use only and is not used to identify or track you.
Analytics
We run our own simple analytics to learn which calculators are used and where they confuse people. It is built to collect as little as possible:
- No cookies and no tracking identifiers by default. Events are not linked across pages or visits.
- Coarse ranges only. We record, for example, that an area was between 100 and 200 ft², never the exact figure. We never record free text, email addresses, full page addresses or your IP address.
- What an event contains: the calculator, the kind of action (such as “calculation completed”), the coarse range, a device class (phone, tablet or desktop), and a broad referrer group (direct, search, social, internal or other).
- Opt-outs are honoured. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, no analytics events are recorded. Visits from known crawlers are not counted.
- Short retention. Individual events are deleted after 60 days. After that only totals remain.
To limit abuse, the server briefly uses a one-way scrambled form of your IP address to rate-limit requests. The address itself is not stored with the analytics.
Advertising
We may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, including personalised ads where the law and your choices allow it. Where required, we ask for your choice through a consent banner before ads that use cookies are shown. You can manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com. Ads never appear inside the calculator, and no calculator input is shared with advertisers.
Hosting and server logs
The site runs on a server in the United States, behind Cloudflare, which delivers pages and protects the site from attacks. Like any web host, our server and Cloudflare process basic request information, including your IP address, browser type and the page requested, in order to deliver pages and keep the site secure. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting.
Email you send us
If you email us, we keep your message and address long enough to reply and to record any correction. We do not add you to a mailing list or sell or share your details.
Your choices and rights
You can turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser to stop analytics, and clear your browser data to remove saved projects. Because analytics events carry no name, email or identifier, we usually cannot look up data about a particular person. We are based in Ontario, Canada, and handle personal information in line with Canadian privacy law. If you are in Canada you may ask to see, correct or withdraw consent for personal information we hold about you, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you live in a US state with a privacy law, such as California, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Children
The site is for adults planning home projects and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If what we do changes, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
